Thailand, NZ pledge to elevate relations

Thailand and New Zealand have reached an agreement to advance connections in order to form a” Strategic Partnership” in 2026 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of political relations, according to government official Chai Wacharonke on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin greeted New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon at Government House; where they witnessed the filing of two Memorandums of Knowledge. The second MoU was an education arrangement between Thailand’s Office of the Basic Education Commission and New Zealand’s Massey University, said Mr Chai. Regarding plans to raise the bilateral connection to a proper relationship, Mr Chai said this may include increased assistance in areas of mutual interest, such as security, trade and investment, science and technology, culture, education, tourism, and closer people-to-people ties.

In order to help this, Mr. Luxon announced the establishment of a” Prime Minister’s Fellowship” to provide recommendations for enhancing the diplomatic partnership for the next two years leading up to 2026.

According to Mr. Chai, the nations are also committed to combating international organized crime, particularly animal and drug trafficking. boosting cyber-security and counter-terrorism; and countering violent extremism. On science, engineering, and development, both countries may work together to improve agri-tech, bright farming, meals tech, renewable energy, precision medicine, and modern technology.

Mr. Srettha expressed his hope that the visit may open the door for further investments in Thailand by saying that he was also pleased to have met the New Zealand company group.

Thailand and New Zealand agreed to prioritize card cooperation and the reinstatement of strong planes in the hospitality sector to help meet the goals of welcoming 40,000 Thai visitors to New Zealand by 2020, he said.

Both officials also discussed the responsibilities of both nations in contributing to harmony, stability, conservation, and success. Thailand applauded New Zealand’s desire to participate in the Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy, which is in line with Wellington’s strategy to become a complete corporate Asean lover by 2025.
