Thailand: A Thai holiday has been fined after apparently ignoring a lifeguard’s caution and driving a rented vehicle along Kamala shore, and sometimes in the ocean.

A picture of his excursion was posted on social media on Monday, and sparked outrage. Some people vilified the driver and assumed he was a foreigner.

Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, commander of Kamala policeman, said the vehicle was a Thai person he identified just as Prasopchok, 39. He and his relatives were on vacation in Phuket while he owned a convenience store there. The driver was facing a fine of 1,000 baht for irresponsible driving.

Mr. Prasopchok had previously told the police that he believed driving on the shore was permitted. He and his two children wanted them to get a close-up view of the ocean at Kamala shore in Phuket.

He even expressed his sorrow over the affair, Pol Col Somsak said.

A swimmer approached the vehicle and instructed the vehicle to leave the area, but the incident was ignored, according to The Phuket News.

According to other reports, the man claimed he saw a vehicle taking jetskis onto the shore and believed it was permitted to drive along it. So he did.
