Stop-work orders, fines given to 2 companies after unsafe conditions found at worksites

SINGAPORE: 2 companies have been fined and issued stop-work orders after basic safety inspections found dangerous conditions at their worksites, said the particular Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Thursday (Aug 4).

The ministry said in a Facebook post that in order to curb the surge in workplace deaths, it has ramped upward enforcement efforts and imposed stiffer fines on companies along with poor workplace security and health procedures.

At current inspections, it discovered unsafe conditions at the worksites of two companies: CAD Acquaintances and KHC Advancement.

CAD Co-workers was fined S$21, 000 and KHC Development was fined S$20, 000. Both were issued stop-work orders.

To lift the stop-work orders, these companies should rectify all unsafe work conditions, indulge third-party auditors in order to assess their place of work safety and health management systems plus develop action programs based on the audit results.

They also need to install closed-circuit tv cameras at areas where high-risk routines are being carried out, said MOM.
