Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa did not board flight to Singapore from the Maldives: Reports

SINGAPORE: Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa did not plank a flight in order to Singapore on Thurs (Jul 14) early morning from the Maldives right after fleeing his nation the day before, Sri Lankan media documented.

Citing a government resource, Reuters reported upon Wednesday night that Mr Rajapaksa had been expected to fly in order to Singapore. It added that the president has been set to send in his resignation after landing in Singapore.

But  Sri Lanka’s Daily Looking glass   stated on Thursday morning that Mr  Rajapaksa and his wife did not depart for Singapore on a scheduled Singapore Airlines flight from Male and is waiting around to travel on a private plane.

Citing sources from the Maldives, the Daily Reflection said they did not board their planned flight “due to security concerns”.  

The particular Maldives Journal said upon Thursday that Mister Rajapaksa was nevertheless in the Maldives. Mr Rajapaksa was reportedly rushed off to a resort island with all the Maldives Police Program after arriving upon Wednesday, the Maldives News Network said.
