Singapore ranked 3rd least corrupt country in 2024, top in Asia Pacific

SINGAPORE: Singapore was ranked the country’s fourth least corrupt country in 2024, &nbsp, climbing two spots from the past month, according to anti-corruption system Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index.

Singapore has topped the Asia-Pacific location of the index for the first time since 2010.

Singapore last held second place in 2018 and 2020, ranked third in 2019 and 2021, and placed second in 2022 and 2023. &nbsp,

The score measures 180 nations’ and territories ‘ perceived levels of public sector problem. Countries are scored on a scale of 0 ( highly corrupt ) to 100 ( very clean ). &nbsp, The 2024 score draws upon 13 professional evaluations and company research.

Singapore scored 84 items last month, an enhancement of one place from 2023 and 2022.

” Singapore’s status as one of the least crooked countries in the world is hard-earned. Our citizens continue to fight back against corruption and will come forward to report wrongdoing to the authorities, according to a press release from the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau ( CPIB ) on Tuesday ( Feb 11 ).

” Domestically, the number of public sector corruption cases remains consistently low”, it added.

CPIB said that out of 16 markets, Singapore ranked second in the&nbsp, Political and Economic Chance Consultancy’s 2024 report on corruption in Asia, the US and Australia – a position it has held for the last 30 times. &nbsp,

In the World&nbsp, Justice Project Rule of Law Index 2024, Singapore placed second worldwide and first in Asia for lack of fraud.
