The Magic Screen Awards, the first foreign competition with a group dedicated to Eastern cinema, were the event’s closing ceremony, which took place on the last night of the festival.

A total of 14 accolades, including three Special Cites, were given to pictures and talents from Singapore, the place and beyond.

SGIFF program director Thong Kay Wee said:” The Magic Screen Awards… are not only an appreciation of superiority, but another step toward expanding the global reach of Eastern cinema, recognising films that are not just artistically remarkable, but also culturally sonorous”.
