Singapore’s aviation industry continues to soar high. Not only did Changi Airport clinch the title of Best Airport In The World again, Singapore Airlines (SIA) was recently named in Fortune magazine’s list of most admired companies in the world. SIA ranked 29th on the 2024 list, up two spots from 31st last year.
It is the only Singapore-based company in the top 50 and and the second-highest placed Asian company – after Toyota. Within the airline industry, SIA also placed second.
Fortune’s top 50 list was based on a survey of 3,720 executives, directors and securities analysts globally across a range of industries, who were asked to select the 10 companies they admired most. Within the overall sub-categories, SIA received high ratings in the following categories: Innovation, quality of products/services, people management, quality of management, financial soundness and long-term investment value.
In a press release, Goh Choon Phong, chief executive officer of SIA, said: “This ranking is a testament to Singapore Airlines’ commitment to innovation, investment in product and service excellence, and the resilient and committed work culture that permeates the company.
“It will also motivate us to continue delivering a world-class end-to-end travel experience for our customers. This accolade is dedicated to our people, who strive every single day to help Singapore Airlines retain our leadership position in the airline industry.”
The good news comes after SIA reported a record half-year profit in November 2023 with net profits rising to S$1.44 billion (US$1.06 billion).
