A second employee at PUB’s Choa Chu Kang Waterworks last week in Singapore died after inhaling harmful oil.
The 24- yr- ancient Malaysian, who was an individual of PUB’s company Stargroup Est, was admitted to intensive treatment after the incident on May 23. He died of his injury on Tuesday, said PUB on Wednesday.
He and two other employees had collapsed as a result of silt spitting up from one of the tree’s pulsator tanks as part of pond cleaning job.
Sludge, a by-product of the waters treatment method, turns into hydrogen sulfide, a gas. It is a colourless gasoline with a strong, uncomfortable odour, and is very dangerous and flammable.
All three employees were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital where one of them, a 40- year- ancient Hindu nationwide, died the same day.
The various two staff, both Malay, were warded in intensive care.
The 24- year- old Malay worker , “received all needed health treatment but however, succumbed to his injuries at around 10pm on May 28”, said PUB.  ,
The remaining employer, a 39- yr- older, was moved out of the ICU on Tuesday. His problem is already stable.
PUB expressed its sincere apologies to the worker’s relatives and loved ones.  ,
” Along with our company, we are doing everything possible to support his home during this difficult time”, it said.
It further stated that it is conducting a security analysis of its own and that it is fully cooperating with the Ministry of Manpower in its analysis.
The organization stated,” We would like to ask the public to understand that we are unable to provide additional information on the event at this time.”  ,  ,
Cafe stated that as part of its safety review, particularly those relating to work in tight spaces where there is a risk of being exposed to harmful gases and chemicals, has been conducting a safety review.
Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of following policies to protect the safety of its people and contractors.  ,
” We have been gradually lowering the security delay at workplace and flowers where we are satisfied that the necessary and appropriate measures are in place,” said PUB.
