Design to be done in 36 times
Construction on the next airport at the U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport is expected to start this year.
Chula Sukmanop, secretary-general of the Eastern Economic Corridor ( EEC ), said the project is now applying for a loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank ( AIIB ).
Mr Chula said Italian-Thai Development ( ITD ) has been selected as the project contractor.
Tharit Issarayangyun, EEC assistant secretary-general, said the job is being planned in cooperation with the Royal Thai Navy (RTN).
The next airport, according to Mr. Tharit, will be 3, 505 meters long and 1, 140 meters from the current runway.
At least 70 flights are expected to take place on the following runway each hour, which will also provide large plane.
The initiative funding is around 15.2 billion ringgit in full, said Mr Tharit.
But, the EEC has raised worries about the prolonged building of the high-speed railroad connecting three terminals– Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao.
The high-speed rail system, an EEC flagship project, has a contract signed with the State Railway of Thailand ( SRT ) and Asia Era One, a Charoen Pokphand ( CP ) Group subsidiary. The project is currently being worked out and is anticipated to close this quarter.
The high-speed road tunnel’s design and construction plan, according to Mr. Chula, will need to travel under the following airport. The train’s pattern has already been completed.
The runway’s development is anticipated to take 36 months. The high-speed road hole must be finished within the 18-month airport contract between the RTN and ITD, according to the agreement.
According to Mr. Tharit, the EEC and the RTN have discussed whether it would be better to reduce the job from the joint venture agreement with Asia Era One and have the SRT carry out the design of the railroad pipe in place if the high-speed coach hole under the airport cannot be completed by the early 2025.
He claimed that this was done to prevent the tarmac structure at the airport from being impacted.
SRT and Asia Era One have been informed about this problem. Everyone is aware of the answer, according to Mr. Tharit.
” The high-speed road tunnel portion that enters the passenger terminal passes for about three to four kilometers.” Its construction value is estimated to cost 10 billion ringgit.
However, Weerawat Phantawangkul, CEO of U-Tapao International Aviation, said the aircraft development plan is expected to begin next month, with building lasting at least five years.
He claimed that there are three building projects planned for a 6, 500-rai place, and that at least 100 billion ringgit should be put toward the repairs ‘ first step.
