Ratan Tata gets state funeral as India bids farewell to business tycoon, philanthropist

India bide adieu to one of its most admired business leaders, Ratan Tata, who founded a global powerhouse spanning a range of industries under his company name.

Back of a state death, hundreds of people including business officials, politicians and celebrities gathered in India’s economic hub Mumbai to spend their last respects to Tata, who died aged 86 on Wednesday.

Tata served as chairman of diverse businesses within the Tata company for more than 20 times and is renowned for his excellent business acumen and philanthropic spirit. It recorded profit of US$ 165 billion in 2023-24.

A mature firm professional told Reuters that Tata was consulted on important decisions by the Tata Sons management despite the fact that the company has grown less effective in recent years.

Tata had been receiving medical attention in a clinic in Mumbai since Monday, but it was not immediately known what caused his death. &nbsp,
