Public transport startup Transbot wins Bayu Hackathon 2022

  • To provide students with electronic skills, address digital talent shortage

Held through July 29 to 31, 2022, the hackathon saw Amir Kusyairie Arif, Brandon Ujin, and Munira Muhamad emerge since winners for the best task award category, with Transbot, a public transportation scheduling and booking system.

This solution was created based on United Nations’ Sustainable Development Objective (SGD) 11, beneath the sustainable cities and communities category, Woodland Interactive said in the statement.  

It additional that the team also received the jury’s award for its innovative and well-founded concept.

Based on Forest Interactive, Bayu Hackathon aims to operate a vehicle diverse and comprehensive digital growth simply by equipping participants along with specialised digital abilities, increase employment opportunities, and address the electronic talent shortage within Malaysia.  

It said the hackathon is also part of the foundation’s mission to provide educational platforms that are aligned along with industry’s demands and also to ensure that youths can keep pace with technological advancements.  

Along with 51 shortlisted participants from Sabah, 17 groups came collectively to develop innovative plus sustainable living solutions that address the United Nations SDGs, it said.

This included quality education, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, sustainable metropolitan areas and communities for life on land, which usually centers on Sabah’s community issues for example accessibility to public transportation and quality education, it added.

Johary Mustapha, creator and chief executive officer for Forest Interactive, stated, “I am truly glad to see such talent and excitement within our participants and commend them for that innovation they have put forth in this challenge, ” he added.

Jema Khan, chairman of Jawala Plantation Industries said, “As a collaborative partnership of Forest Interactive Foundation plus Mosti Sabah, we all fully support the trajectory of programmes that provide opportunities meant for Sabahan youths to show and highlight their own potential in the field of technology.

Haji Yakub Khan, minister of science, technologies and innovation stated, “This programme is within line with our Sabah Maju Jaya ambitions to equip the city with digital abilities and knowledge, as well as to nurture an intellectual, creative and revolutionary community. ”

The organisers said all distribution for the hackathon problem were evaluated based on criterias that include creativity and creativity, scalability and business ideals, presentation as well as specialized implementation.
