Mr. Shanmugam claimed that Singapore’s inspection, which culminated in an islandwide attack of 22 locations on February 26, was initiated by an unnamed tip-off and not a request from a foreign object.

There was a tip-off that was private, and it came from a different sovereign entity, never the United States. The United States has not requested anything in relation to this matter from us. According to him, this was an independent research that had just begun in Singapore based on the tip-off.

According to Mr. Shanmugam, the investigation found potential violations of Singapore’s local laws, which prompted the authorities to take action quickly.

On February 27, two Singaporeans, Aaron Woon Guo Jie, 41, and Alan Wei Zhaolun, 49, were charged with criminal conspiracy to commit scams on a server provider.

According to the command sheets, they reportedly made misleading representations last year that the items would not be transferred to anyone other than the “authorised best buyer of ending users.”

After allegedly claiming in 2023 that the end users of the products would be a firm called Luxuriate Your Life, the second, 51-year-old Chinese federal Li Ming, was charged with committing fraud by false picture.

According to Mr. Shanmugam, businesses operating in Singapore are expected to take into account the punitive export controls in place for their international business operations and conduct their operations honestly.

He added that nations in the supply chain and trade must work together to make sure that everything is done correctly by enforcing local laws within their respective jurisdictions.

” As you can see, the problem is not with the laws,” the statement read. The rules apply to us. We are enforcing, and it’s with police, he said.

However, it will not be possible for any one state to deal with this by itself where you have an worldwide chain of events.”

He reaffirmed that Singapore has “very good regulations” to deal with its private situation.
