Pritam Singh trial adjourned as lead lawyer Andre Jumabhoy is sick; set to resume on Oct 23

SINGAPORE: The dramatic trial of Workers ‘ Party chief Pritam Singh will be adjourned to Wednesday ( Oct 23 ) afternoon, as his lead lawyer Andre Jumabhoy is sick.

Following a stand-down of about an afternoon on Tuesday morning, his coworker, Mr. Aristotle Emmanuel Eng, informed the court that Mr. Jumabhoy had seen a doctor and had received a health certificate for two weeks.

The document states that he is unqualified for judge. After the reading, CNA inquired about Mr. Eng’s condition, but Mr. Eng responded by saying he was “also no sure,” before adding that he had no comment.

Mr Eng asked the court to walk down the prosecution until 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Before contacting the trial about any problems with the injunction, Deputy Principal District Judge Luke Tan requested that the health certificate become uploaded.

Deputy Attorney-General Ang Cheng Hock replied in the negative, adding:” I wish him a quick treatment”.

Mr. Eng was also asked by the judge to provide his judge officer with a Wednesday night update.

As usual, there was a crowd in the public museum. Former WP key Low Thia Khiang was expected to take the stand as first as&nbsp, Monday, making a brief look that afternoon&nbsp, before leaving.

After Yudhishthra Nathan, an ex-WP army representative, finishes his time on the stand, he comes next.

Mr. Jumabhoy had applied for Mr. Nathan’s unredacted emails, but Judge Tan did not make a decision.
