Police reports made over scammers allegedly posing as businessman Peter Lim

SINGAPORE: Personnel of Peter Lim have made police reports over scammers apparently impersonating the Singaporean businessman and offering investment advice online.

The police on Wednesday (Aug 10) confirmed that will reports were lodged.

Mr Lim, 69, has a net worth of about US$2. 4 billion according to Forbes. He is the owner of Spanish football club Valencia.

His spokesperson told CNA which the alleged scammers had been claiming to be Mr Lim and providing stock trading advice and courses over several messaging platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp.

“The posts appeared to have long gone viral very fast because Mr Lim’s workplace has been notified by many people who know your pet, ” said the particular spokesperson, who additional that the number of people who may have received the text messages is unknown.

Screenshots of the discussions showed an individual utilizing the name “Peter Lim” and a display photo of the businessman delivering messages in Telegram and WhatsApp chat groups.
