Perimeters lined with tarps, water quality checks: Singapore fish farms take precautions against oil spill

Situations AMID Problem

When the announcement of the fuel flow broke, Changi Fresh tuna farm’s director, Darren Ho, told CNA that they were “naturally concerned.”

After all, the one-hectare plantation had only just begun operating last month, he said, and they had even brought in seafood. They had hired fresh workers.

He claimed SFA reached him on Tuesday to request samples from his fish grain, but he declined because his bass are still too small.

The company also informed him that the efforts were being directed at the group of farms that were situated near the channel’s jaws.

Although the region has not been affected by the oil flow, Mr. Ho explained that nothing is being taken for granted and that business continuity plans are in place.

” In the worst- case scenario, we will take ( out the fish ) and freeze before selling”, he said.
