Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers among those to benefit from Indonesia’s expanded free meal initiative

JAKARTA: The Indonesian government plans to expand its proposed completely meals program to incorporate toddlers, breastfeeding mothers, and pregnant women.  ,
The Free Nutritious Meal Programme, which is now known as the Free Nutritious Meal Program, was originally intended to be available to both children and school-going kids as part of a campaign to combat child nutrition in the nation. It is currently being implemented from 2025.  ,
However, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati made the announcement during a plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Tuesday ( Aug 27 ) that the program would be expanded, adding that this would help raise nutritional standards, advance cognitive development, and stop stunting.  ,
Antara news agency quoted her as saying that the government has allocated 197.8 trillion rupiah ( US$ 12.8 billion ) to the health budget for next year, with a priority on stunting prevention.
Stunts are the impaired growth and development that children experience as a result of inadequate nutrition, repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial excitement, according to the World Health Organization.  ,
Indonesia has already made significant progress in this regard, lowering stunting rates from 37.2 percent to 21.5 % over the past ten years. Yet, Ms Sri Mulyani emphasised the need to promote this development.
A premier action of President-elect Prabowo Subianto, the program first targeted school toddlers, elementary school students, junior high school students, senior high school students as well as kids enrolled at spiritual schools.  ,
It was formerly known as the Free Lunch program before changing its name to what it is now in May.  ,
The initiative aims to increase student nutrition intake and increase their potential scientific benefits, among other things, by encouraging school attendance and lowering dropout rates.
Local media also reported that the program aims to encourage local micro, small, and medium enterprises ( MSMEs ) by promoting economic growth of around 0. 10 % and creating approximately 820, 000 job opportunities.  ,
The ambitious program will be carried out through MSMEs ‘ involvement in public kitchens.
For 2025, 71 trillion ringgit has been allocated for the free food program, covering food costs, supply, and operating expenses of the previously established National Nutrition Agency.  ,
Before its general execution next time, the program is currently being tested in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and East Java.  ,  ,

Man admits to cycling nude on Lazarus Island, flashing students at NTU, NUS

SINGAPORE: A 54-year-old man admitted to a court on Wednesday ( Aug 28 ) that he had cycled nude on Lazarus Island and exposed himself to students at two universities.
Leong Weng Wai, a Singaporean, pleaded guilty to three counts of appearing nude in a public place under the Miscellaneous Offences ( Public Order and Nuisance ) Act.
Another two allegations of being naked at NUS’ University Town may be taken into account for punishment.
THE Guests AT LAZARUS ISLAND
Two female subjects whose years were not revealed went camping at Lazarus Island on November 14 last season.
That night, they saw Leong riding fully nude. Leong spotted them and dismounted his vehicle without a second thought.
He hid his vehicle among some nearby trees and bushes and left it on a path.
The guests continued their treks around the area.
But, Leong returned to his bike and rode past them dressed.
The subjects captured photos and videos of Leong riding in the shield on their devices.
Leong stopped in front of the tourists this time and asked them for some clothes.
He claimed that the water had “wasted away” his clothes. The subjects turned away from him and fled.
Leong left the island that night and came back the following day, according to investigations.
He was still wearing clothing when the campers noticed him riding once more that night.  ,
When they saw him afterwards after midday, he had removed his trousers and underwear. Just a small handkerchief was draped over his shoulders on the next moment they saw him that morning.
The guests saw Leong in several dress conditions four times in total over the course of two days.
Later that month, they made contact with the police about a naked guy on Lazarus Island.
THE UNIVERSITY Waving
Leong also acknowledged that in May of last year, there were flashes of female students at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore ( NUS).
On May 18, 2023, Leong went to a incapacitated bathroom at NUS’ University Town’s Stephen Riady Center at about 10 p.m.
When he called for assistance, a person came forth and observed Leong lying face-up on the bathroom floor with his head protruding outward.
The lady asked her friend, a scholar at NUS, to follow her to support Leong.
But, when they went closer, they realised that Leong’s trousers were pulled over and his personal parts were exposed.
Leong informed them that he had a broken hip and thigh.
The two girls assisted Leong in rising. The people escorted Leong to a bus stop only after he repeatedly pulled up his pants at their urging.
The NUS student reported to the police several days later, alleging that a person had half exposed himself to adult students in the restrooms.
Leong was discovered by a sexual scholar at NTU on May 23, 2023, lying on a wall next to a incapacitated bathroom.
Leong’s trousers were pulled over to his ankles, according to her observation.
The person could only see the part of his hips as Leong turned away from her.
Leong reached out both arms and pleaded with the lady to assist him.
She agreed, but as she was pulling him up, Leong’s personal elements came into view.
Leong pleaded with the person to assist him in putting on his trousers, but she objected because she observed that he could use his hands to make gestures.
Leong was instructed to prevent leaning in her direction.
Another prey who had been flashed by Leong that night later went to the bathroom with her female friends and witnessed the new sufferer helping Leong.
A policeman report was made.
Leong’s eligibility for a mandatory care order was referred for a record by the judge, who then moved sentencing to September.
For each matter of appearing skinny in a public place, Leong could be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$ 2, 000, or both.
