Packets of cooking oil found floating in Indonesian waters not from Malaysia, says Annuar

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no evidence to demonstrate that packets associated with cooking oil found floating in Indonesian waters originated from Malaysia as claimed within social media, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

The Marketing communications and Multimedia Minister said the public need to rely on authentic statements issued by related parties instead of speculating on the matter.

“We have attempted to get confirmation through the media that published this news but not even a single celebration could provide additional details on the pictures circulated in certain social media accounts.

“However, preliminary information received showed that the essential oil was produced by Indonesia itself, ” this individual told a push conference after chairing a meeting of the task force to address pumpiing at Parliament building here.

Annuar, who chairs the job force, said he had asked the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) to followup on the matter.

Recently, news at the discovery of thousands of packets of cooking oil in oceans near Pulau Jawa, Indonesia, has been moving on social media, increasing questions among various parties. – Bernama
