A South Asian studies university reported that, in addition to additional steps the nation is taking to strengthen his rule, North Koreans were asked to take commitment pledges on his holiday for the first time since Kim Jong Un took office in 2011.
According to the South and North Development Institute ( SAND), a Seoul-based organization that released photos of the oath in an ornate folder on Friday, the loyalty oaths were administered on what is thought to have been Kim’s 40th birthday on January 8.
Although North Korea has not officially confirmed Kim’s delivery date, swear ceremonies typically take place on the anniversary of his father and grandfather’s birthdays, which were the nuclear-armed nation’s former rulers.
” Kim Jong Un’s decision to host a fidelity swear meeting on his 40th day, as he begins his 13th season in power, signals a shift towards democratic assertiveness, departing from his predecessors ‘ approach”, SAND said in an analysis.
SAND’s leader, Choi Kyong- ying, told Reuters North Korea may proceed to specify Kim’s birthday as an established anniversary as soon as second year.
