Nok Air skids off runway, all flights to Chiang Rai cancelled

Nok Air’s Boeing 737-800 skidded off the runway while landing at the Mae Fah Luang airport terminal in the northern province of Chiang Rai in heavy rain on Saturday night time but nobody has been hurt, the airline announced.

According to the announcement released on Saturday, Nok Air Flight DD108 (Don Mueang – Chiang Rai) along with 164 passengers and six crew members departed from Add Mueang airport in 8. 03pm plus arrived at Mae Fah Luang airport in 9. 06pm.

While landing, the aircraft skidded off the runway due to the heavy rain but the pilots managed to securely park the aircraft. All of the passengers and crew members had been safely moved to the particular passenger building. No one was injured.

According to the statement, the company took a great care of the passengers by providing them with snacks and drinks whilst waiting for the baggage.

A study was underway to the incident, it said.

Nevertheless , some of the passengers posted comments on Facebook, saying that they were not really provided with any comfort as announced with the airline.

Nok Air stated on Sunday that most flights to Chiang Rai were cancelled.

The Mae Fah Luang airport has issued an announcement in order to close the runway on Sunday between 6am and 10pm due to the runway incident on Saturday.

As a result, Thailänder Smile, Thai Vietjet and Thai Air Asia will on Sunday transport their particular passengers by busses from Mae Fah Luang airport within Chiang Rai in order to Chiang Mai internation airport in Chiang Mai, from which they could further travel by air to their places.
