SINGAPORE: There will be no new club for the upcoming Singapore Premier League ( SPL) season, despite in-principle approval being given to one, the Football Association of Singapore ( FAS ) said on Wednesday ( Apr 3 ).
The future 2024/25 season, which kicks off in May, is being represented by FAS, which announced last year that it was looking for a 10th club.
The organization announced on Wednesday that it had received several programs to join the league and that one club had received initial approval. CNA is aware that Tengah Football Club is the club.
” The selected club entered into a due diligence process, which took longer than expected,” said FAS.
The team has chosen not to challenge the 2024/25 season because of the strong deadline prior to the SPL’s start in May 2024.
” Otherwise, it will focus on getting a staff prepared for the 2025/26 time. “
FAS added that it would remain to “explore opportunities to improve Singapore’s major regional sports competition”.
Tangah Football Club recently stated that it had received “in-principle acceptance” to play in the upcoming Level season.
On Wednesday, the team took to Instagram to communicate that it has withdrawn its implementation.
The short window of time before the start of the 2024/25 time has unfavorably left us with inadequate preparation time, it wrote.” Although we were cheerened to collect information from FAS that Tengah FC obedience is in order, we were heartened,” it stated.
We hold ourselves accountable to our followers, stakeholders, and partners because we strongly believe that entering the SPL time in these circumstances will not produce satisfactory results. “
