New road map for the arts scene seeks to build up creative industry, infuse art into everyday life

Innovative PLAN FOR FIVE YEARS

The Our SG Arts Plan was developed with more than 16,500 partners. They discussed how to build on the preceding roadmap’s initiatives from 2018, which aimed to establish the domestic arts scene but were thwarted by the COVID-19 crisis.

According to NAC’s Population Survey on the Arts, local interest in the arts has increased, increasing from 29 % in 2020 to 34 % in 2022.

The roadmap includes the introduction of a new portal, which Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong unveiled on Tuesday( Sept. 5 ) at the Sands Expo And Convention Center.

The online platform, called Catch, will let users browse and reserve cultural events in Singapore.

It was created with the assistance of other artists organizations, such as the Esplanade, and it provides free access to a system for smaller arts groups.

NAC may work with Mediacorp to establish cross-industry contacts in order to give them even more exposure.

The barriers or borders between the media and the arts are extremely permeable. Therefore, talent transfers between the two industries fairly easily, according to Angeline Poh, CEO of Mediacorp and CNA’s Singapore, on Tuesday.

The Hear65’s year-long I Play SG Music plan, a partnership between NAC and SMRT Trains that will enable travellers to listen to Malaysian songs at train and bus stations, is one of the other association initiatives.
