New hospital in Bedok to start some services before 2030 completion: Ong Ye Kung

Although Eastern General Hospital ( EGH) in Bedok North will be operational by 2030, some services are likely to begin operating in 2026, according to Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on Saturday ( Apr 20 ).

These companies include teleconsulting and remote monitoring ,  at the medical school ‘ breakthrough meeting, Mr. Ong added.

When the clinic school is fully operational, it will have about 1,400 beds that provide inpatient and outpatient care in a variety of medical specialties and care settings.

The Ministry of Health ( MOH)  initially announced its ideas to  During the Committee of Supply discussion in March 2020, construct the new included doctor.

Bedok Reservoir Road and Bedok North Road may cross the street next to the Bedok North MRT station.

Several  new and unique characteristics may be incorporated into EGH, differentiating  it from other public hospitals in Singapore, said Mr Ong.

” First, EGH will be a more pandemic-ready doctor. The planning and design operation benefited from the COVID-19 practice,” he added.

Therefore, the team created isolation-use wards that can be immediately converted to EGH to hold bed surges in the event of a pandemic. “

Running spaces can be immediately separated from one another and innovative work arrangements may be supported in the event of a pandemic, without having to change major ; network changes.

” Next, EGH will be digitally enabled from the start. It will be well-equipped with an IT network that has been created and integrated right from the beginning,” said Mr. Ong.

” Its employees will be trained and geared up to deliver healthcare. “

People “always say yes” when asked if they are keeping up with their rehabilitation exercises by their doctors, but they” may verify it” due to the limitations of teleconsultations.

The crew at  Wearable sensors that was remotely monitor the consistency and accuracy of the suggested exercises are being developed by EGH are in development.

” That will make teleconsult more successful,” said Mr Ong.

” Next, because of its embrace of telehealth and modern technology, EGH, and this is significant, will be the first basic medical which is able to deliver its services before the conclusion of the physical doctor. ”
