Nationwide river flooding warning

The Royal Irrigation Section has warned that will forecast heavy rainfall could lead to flooding from overflowing rivers countrywide from Saturday in order to next Wednesday.

The warning was issued upon Thursday by Thaweesak Thanadachapol, deputy director-general of the department.

He mentioned it was prompted with the Meteorological Department prediction for increasing rainfall nationwide.  

The flood warning particularly pertains to the following provinces, through Saturday to following Wednesday:

– the northern provinces of Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Boy, Nan, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Uttaradit and Tak;

– the northeastern provinces of Kalasin, Nakhon Phanom, Bung Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Khai and Udon Thani;

– the far eastern provinces of Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat; and

– the southern part of provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala.

The next rivers and their own tributaries could rush their banks – Kok, Wang, Yom, Nan, Khwae Noi, Pa Sak, Chao Phraya, Loei, Chi, Mun, Bang Pakong, Prachin Buri, Trat, Chanthaburi, Sai Buri, Bang Nara plus Sungai Kolok.

The Meteorological Department said rainfall would ease off on Thursday plus Friday as the monsoon trough would be over Myanmar, upper Laos and upper Vietnam.

Nevertheless , from Saturday in order to next Tuesday rain fall would increase countrywide because the trough would be above the North and the upper Northeast.
