The Irrigation Section has installed a lot more pumps to speed up the draining of floodwater from close to Bangkok into the sea.

Director-general Prapis Chanma said two more hydroflow pumps had been set up at the Nang Hong water pumping station in tambon Khlong Dan of Beat Bo district in Samut Prakan, in addition to the six pumps delivered there last week.

In Chachoengsao, which takes water from Bangkok’s Bekv?m Krabang district, 2 hydroflow pumps had been installed at the Tha Khai 1 drinking water pumping station within tambon Tha Khai, Muang district.

In Nakhon Nayok, 12 pumping systems of three different capacities had been set up at the Sombun drinking water pumping station within Ongkharak district. The additional pumps were to strain water from the decrease Khlong Hok channel, which has taken water from inner Bangkok and Pathum Thani, into the Nakhon Nayok river. This would lessen the volume of drinking water running past Bangkok and alleviate flooding in Pathum Thani’s low-lying areas.

Mr Prapis said the Water sources Department would keep provide assistance to places affected by flooding until the situation returns to normal,   or the finish of the rainy time of year.
