According to Minister of Digital Economy and Society ( DES ) Prasert Chantararuangthong, Thailand’s cell broadcast ( CB ) emergency warning system is anticipated to be prepared for deployment in six to one year.

Mr. Prasert stated that the NBTC will work with cellular phone service providers to build the CB notice system after discussing its implementation with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.

He stated that it will get six to one month to develop and test the CB system.

Following the shooting in the Siam Paragon shopping center on Tuesday, which resulted in two fatalities and five injuries, the plan to create an efficient public reminder system was developed.

Because it enables evacuation warnings to be sent to all wireless networked devices in a particular target area, the use of Fullback technology is being suggested.

Emergency warnings sent via location-based service( LBS ), according to Mr. Prasert, were also tested on Thursday by teams from Advanced Info Service ( AIS ) and True Corporation in Government House, but the LBS alert system took some time to process.

The DES secretary added that Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin may choose which organization will oversee the proposed system and that he would consider the establishment of a federal warning center to alert the public to emergency situations.

The CB alert system will be presented to the NBTC plank for review as soon as possible, according to Trairat Viriyasirikul, deputy secretary-general of the organization.

An SMS is sent to mobile devices in a site using the LBS program, according to Wasit Wattanasap, mind of AIS’s global operations and help business system.

According to Mr. Wasit, the command center determines the protection of cell sites in the area and sends an Email warning to mobile phones in almost real-time after notifying the group AIS team.

When a mobile user accesses the alert, he or she is directed, according to the message, to information about the incident, such as hotlines and security advice.
