KUALA LUMPUR: Many workers in companies that are the target of boycott calls due to their alleged associations with Israel are locals, says RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong).
“They are our children and many of them are new graduates. The calls to boycott certain products have an impact on them, with (some even) losing jobs, including ehailing drivers,” he said in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 14).
Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) earlier told the Dewan Rakyat that such calls had garnered a great deal of attention, with lists of companies and products circulated on social media.
“I would like to know the government’s stance on people boycotting certain products.
“Is there any space and opportunity for the government to help workers affected by this or just leave them be?” he asked while debating the Supply Bill 2024 for the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
