Manmohan Singh reshaped and liberalised India’s economy: PM Wong

SINGAPORE: Former Indian perfect minister&nbsp, Manmohan Singh had reshaped the country’s economy and set the stage for its amazing development, said Singapore Prime Minister&nbsp, Lawrence Wong as he expressed his sympathies.

Dr Singh&nbsp, died on Thursday at the age of 92. &nbsp, He was the first Sikh to direct India, and was prime minister for two words from 2004 to 2014.

” Dr Singh was a leader who reshaped and liberalised India’s market through his vision and perseverance. In a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday ( Dec 28 ), Mr. Wong wrote that this opened the door for India’s remarkable growth and emergence as a key regional and global player.

Mr Wong added that Singapore-India relations grew significantly under Dr Singh, noting that the&nbsp, landmark Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement ( CECA ) was signed during his tenure.

According to Mr. Wong,” It was a milestone in our relationships and laid the groundwork for the robust economic partnership we enjoy today.”

He also said Dr Singh played an&nbsp, critical role in strengthening India’s relationship with ASEAN. &nbsp, Under his management, India joined the East Asia Summit in 2005 and constantly supported ASEAN’s efforts in building a stronger local infrastructure.

In this difficult time, Mr. Wong said,” Our emotions are with the Indian folks.”

India has declared seven nights of position mourning. On Saturday, it accorded Dr Singh a state funeral with defense awards, complete with a gun respect. &nbsp,

Dr. Singh is credited with bringing India to extraordinary financial growth and lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty.

He sealed a monument nuclear deal with the US that he claimed would help India fulfill its growing energy needs during his first term in office and guided the business through a time of 9 % development.
