Malaysia’s prime minister assured on Sunday ( May 4 ) that discussions with the Sarawak premier would lead to a resolution of a dispute between Petronas, owned by the federal government, and Petros, owned by the state of Sarawak.
The two businesses ‘ long-running debate over petrol distribution rights reached a head last month, with Petronas reporting on Friday that its Petronas Carigali company had been given notices from the Sarawak state authorities about its activities there.
Petronas provided no further information, but Sarawak authorities reported to the company’s Miri Crude Oil Terminal that it was being reported as having a false working license.
According to reports, Sarawak has given Petronas Carigali 21 weeks to obtain the necessary license in exchange for fines and penalties under regional state law.
On the basis of rules that were recently agreed upon, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he spoke with Sarawak state top Abang Johari Openg regarding Petronas and Petros problems.
We will soon have more discussions finished when the premier returns from his recognized visit to London.
He stated on his Twitter page,” I am very convinced that this issue will be resolved sensibly by standing on the path of good and meaningful conversation.
