Low risk of Congo mystery disease spreading to Singapore: MOH

SINGAPORE: The risk of the mystery disease in the&nbsp, Democratic Republic of Congo&nbsp, ( DRC ) spreading to Singapore is low, the Ministry of Health ( MOH) said on Tuesday ( Dec 10 ).

The ministry explained that the panzi health area in the Congo has been the site of the pandemic.

The undiagnosed illness is mainly occurring among children, according to the World Health Organization ( WHO ), and is putting severely undernourished people at risk.

A total of 406 cases were recorded between Oct 24 and Dec 5, of which 31 were dangerous.

Symptoms of the disease include fever, headaches, coughing, watery head and body aches.

” Based on available data, the WHO assessed that the danger at the regional and global levels remains low”, MOH said in response to CNA’s questions. &nbsp,

Given the low vacation size and lack of direct airlines between DRC and Singapore, the risk of the disease being imported from the DRC to Singapore is considered to be reduced.
