Long-reigning Thai and British monarchs shared a bond

Their forefathers were “royal close friends by correspondence” yet Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and Thailand’s His Majesty Ruler Bhumibol the Great created a face-to-face relationship during their lifetimes.

The late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, also known as Rama IX, was the second longest reigning monarch within world history during the time of his death within 2016 at age 88 — serving within the throne for seven decades and 126 days.
