Loh Kean Yew books 2025 Thailand Open semi-final showdown with rival Kunlavut Vitidsarn

Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew, the reigning world fighter and top seed, and Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the reigning world champion, will face a common player in a high-stakes match.

Loh secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating Rasmus Gemke from Denmark on May 16th.

Loh, who is already ranked 11th in the world, will be attempting to end a longer losing streak against Kunlavut, who is 7-1 overall in the standings.

The Thai has won their previous five matches, including a straight-sets triumph over Loh 23-21, 21-10, in the men’s songs semi-finals in April at the 2025 Badminton Asia Championship. Bronze was Loh’s finishing touch.

About a decade ago, Loh’s only triumph over Kunlavut was.

On Saturday, they will play in their semi-final suit.

By defeating best seed and Taiwanese No. 7 Chou Tien-chen earlier in May, Loh won the men’s singles title at the Taipei Open in May.

In 69 moments, Loh won the match 21-14, 15-21, and 22-20, earning his first name in more than a year and becoming the primary Taiwanese to win the tournament.
