Life-saving campaign can also save 22.8 billion baht

More than 38 million people are targeted by the government’s nationwide health initiative against non-communicable diseases (NCDs ), in an effort to save over 22 billion baht in national healthcare costs.

This significant public health initiative, which aims to provide monitoring and preventive care to almost 40 million Thais in order to reduce the burden of NCDs, was presided over by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra monday.

The government plan, which began yesterday and will continue until Sept. 30, is anticipated to preserve over 22 billion ringgit in healthcare costs in the fiscal year 2025.

Under the slogan” 30 Thai Anywhere with Solid Public Health for a Thailand Free from NCDs,” the government’s continued commitment to common care is highlighted in the title” Healthcare for All Ages.”

It aims to provide first screening and protective services for all age groups, with a particular emphasis on serious non-cardiovascular diseases like diabetes, hypertension, liver disease, and brain problems.

Additionally, the project incorporates contemporary health risk assessments using tools like AI-based diabetic patient ocular images.

Ms. Paetongtarn stressed the value of preventive care in her keynote address, noting that NCDs are still the main cause of death in the country despite being non-infectious.

She argued that the key to lowering mortality and increasing regional production is educating people about maintaining good health.

Somsak Thepsutin, Thailand’s minister of public wellbeing, made a point about the seriousness of NCDs.

According to Mr. Somsak, more than 36, 000 Thai people died last year from the complications of 506, 593 Thai people receiving stage-3 chronic liver disease, while more than 349, 000 stroke people were reported in 2023.
