SINGAPORE: The licence of the Casuarina Curry outlet off Upper Thomson Road has been suspended for two weeks as a result of food safety lapses, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Tuesday (Jan 9).
The shop at 138 Casuarina Road in Sembawang Hills Estate will not be allowed to operate from Jan 9 to Jan 22.
Casuarina Curry was also fined S$800 (US$601) after accumulating 12 demerit points in a year. It was given six demerit points each for the following offences:
- Failure to keep licensed premises free of infestation
- Sale of unclean food
“A licensee who accumulates 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period may have his licence suspended for a period of either two or four weeks, or cancelled,” said SFA.
All food handlers and hygiene officers working in the suspended premises are also required to reattend and pass food safety courses before they can resume their work.
“SFA takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times, and to engage only registered food handlers,” said the agency.
“SFA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.”
CNA has contacted Casuarina Curry for comment on the two-week suspension of its licence.
