Kopitiam card to be discontinued after Jun 30, refunds of stored value to start from March

SINGAPORE: Kopitiam stored-value cards that will entitle users to some 10 per cent low cost at the operator’s eateries and food courts and eateries is going to be phased out after Jun 30, and consumers may get a full money refund of the quantity left on their credit cards from Mar 1 )

FairPrice Group, which operates the Kopitiam string of food courts, coffee shops and hawker centres, said this on Thursday (Feb 2) after on-line messages claimed that the use of the Kopitiam cards would end this particular month and the staying stored value probably forfeited.  

FairPrice said that Kopitiam card users might receive the same ten per cent discount over the FairPrice mobile app, which will still be being used after the card will be discontinued.

Apart from being able to get a full cash refund of the kept value, Kopitiam cards holders may also move the amount to the FairPrice app in the form of Linkpoints.

This may be completed at kiosks setup at selected Kopitiam outlets and there will be personnel stationed on the kiosks to help customers with the refund plus transfer.

Linkpoints are loyalty points that are accumulated by spending at NTUC FairPrice supermarkets on the web or at the shops, and the points may be used to offset the cost of purchases.

Kopitiam any of four social enterprises under the FairPrice Group, which was established in November 2019. The other social enterprises are NTUC FairPrice, NTUC Foodfare, plus NTUC Link.

Kopitiam has more than 100 outlets associated with hawker centres and food courts across the isle.

FairPrice is usually encouraging Kopitiam cardholders to download the FairPrice app “as soon as possible” so that they may get Linkpoints for Kopitiam purchases in addition to the existing 10 per cent discounts.

Fairprice additional that seniors and also require difficulty using the application or do not have debit or credit cards and they are under the ComCare system for low-income individuals and families may get the 10 per cent discount by showing their Pioneer Era or Merdeka Era identifier cards.
