The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Jong Un, refuted widespread claims that Pyongyang is providing weapons to Russia on Friday ( May 17 ), calling the claim “absurd.”
Despite a number of UN sanctions against both states that would outlaw any such arms payments, North Korea and the United States have consistently accused North Korea of providing weapons to Moscow.
Additionally, experts have warned that the nuclear-armed North may get conducting extensive testing and creation of sail rockets and artillery in readiness for supplies to Russia for use in Ukraine.
However, Kim Yo Jong claimed in a statement released by the official Asian Central News Agency on Friday that Pyongyang had” no purpose to trade our defense technological capabilities to any nation.”
She further accused Seoul and Washington of “misleading the people with a false rumor that the weapons systems produced by us are” for trade to Russia”.
She said,” What is most essential for us is not to” advertise” or “export” anything, but to make our army’s combat readiness and deterrent more great in both quality and quantity.”
Pyongyang thanked Russia next month for using its UN Security Council filibuster to obstruct the registration of a panel of experts that controlled international restrictions on Kim’s program. The mostly secluded North has recently strengthened military ties with Moscow.
South Korea claimed in March that North Korea had shipped roughly 7, 000 hands to Russia for its conflict with Ukraine, a move Seoul believes got started in July last year.
