For endangering far-right MP Geert Wilders, a previous Pakistani cricketer has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in the Netherlands.
The case was based on an online video that Khalid Latif posted in 2018 offering to destroy the lawmaker for 21, 000 dollars(£ 18, 000 ).
That was after Mr. Wilders insulted Muslims with remarks he made about the Prophet Muhammad.
It is doubtful that Latif may complete any of his sentences.
He now resides in Pakistan, which does not have an extradition agreement with the Netherlands.
For several years, the French government have been attempting to interrogate Latif, but they claim that Pakistan has not provided any assistance.
It was not a bend to believe that someone around the world would have heeded the call to destroy Mr. Wilders, the judge ruled on Monday.
His remarks, according to presiding judge G Verbeek, were an assault on free speech as well as Mr. Wilders professionally.
Following the decision, there was no immediate opinion from Latif.
In 2018 in response to Mr. Wilder’s news that he would carry a contest for caricatures of the Muhammad, the man posted the picture digitally.
Islam forbids the depiction of the Prophet because it is regarded as an act of worship, and cartoons are viewed as being extremely insulting.
After widespread protests broke out in Pakistan and he received many death threats, Mr. Wilders, who is known for his anti-Islam speech, later backtracked.
Mr. Wilders was found guilty of comparable offenses in 2016.
He urged French Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the nation’s justice minister to place” strong stress” on the Bangladeshi authorities to arrest and deliver Latif in a blog on X( previously Twitter ) that came after the ruling of the court on Monday.
