On Thursday evening, a female red koala that escaped from Chiang Mai Zoo was discovered dead in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park.
The corpse was discovered in the Huai Chang Khian channel at 2.30pm, according to Kritsayam Kongsatree, chairman of the Protected Areas Regional Office 16 in Chiang Mai.
The two-year-old kangaroo escaped from the park in Muang city of Chiang Mai state on Wednesday night, while guards were preparing a meal for the kangaroo in the American zone.
On Wednesday, it was first spotted hopping up on a road heading towards the Doi Suthep hill. After rescuers discovered the body and bloodstream stains, the hunt was resumed on Wednesday night.
On Thursday night, the hunt was resumed and expanded.
On Thursday afternoon, Chiang Mai Zoo employees may provide a press briefing on the subject.
