Japanese government to seek court order to dissolve Unification Church

TOKYO: The Japanese government announced on Thursday( Oct. 12 ) that it would seek a court order to dissolve the Unification Church, which has come under close scrutiny ever since Shinzo Abe’s murder.

After learning that Abe’s alleged criminal was motivated by animosity toward the group, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida next season ordered a federal investigation into the sect.

The chapel has been blamed for child abuse among its members and accused of pressuring its adherents to make sizable funds.

Masahito Moriyama, the minister of education, stated to a panel of experts on Thursday that he would like to obtain the dissolution order required by the religious organizations rules.

The church may drop its status as a tax-exempt organization if it were to be dissolved, but it would still be permitted to carry on with its spiritual practices.

After the screen has finished its meeting, the ministry does make a proper decision to request the court order.

According to local advertising, the government intends to submit the demand to the Tokyo District Court on Friday.
