JAKARTA: Indonesian businesses will start to export poultry products to Singapore “really soon”, stated Indonesia’s Ministry associated with Agriculture in response to CNA’s queries on Wed (Jul 6).
At the same time, the ministry declared that it is working with more businesses to obtain permission to export poultry products to the neighbouring country.
This particular comes after Singapore introduced on Jun 30 that it has added Indonesia as a new resource for the import of chilled, frozen and processed chicken.
Based on the Singapore Food Company (SFA), three companies from Indonesia received permission to export chicken meat and chicken meat products into the country.
Two of the companies are Indonesian subsidiaries associated with Thailand-based food conglomerate Charoen Pokphand, while the other is a subsidiary of Indonesian freezing food giant Japfa Comfeed.
Mdm Tri Mela Sari, a director on Indonesia’s Ministry associated with Agriculture told CNA that the three certified companies have however to export their products to Singapore.
“How soon these businesses can start exporting hens to Singapore is determined by B2B (business-to-business) negotiations between the Indonesian companies and their (Singaporean) counterparts. How much (chicken meat) would be exported will also depend on the particular B2B negotiations, ” she said.
“We will start conveying really soon. We are going to let you know when as soon as (the deal) is certainly finalised. ”
The ministry’s movie director of animal item processing and advertising added that there are 12 other Indonesian businesses which are currently seeking permission to export chicken products to Singapore. All programs have been submitted to the SFA.
“We are now waiting for the particular SFA to begin their audit process. The federal government hopes (the audit) can be conducted shortly, ” said Mdm Mela Sari.
Last month, the team from the SFA visited Indonesia in order to audit Indonesia’s food safety and pet health controls. The team visited various facilities such as facilities, quarantine stations and laboratories to better be familiar with regulatory systems in place.
The SFA said that individual institutions and farms must be evaluated and authorized, with detailed documented evaluations and on-site audits for confirmation.
According to a good estimate by the Ministry of Agriculture last month, Indonesia’s poultry meat production throughout in 2022 will be expected to reach 5. 9 million tonnes.
The domestic demand for chicken meat is approximated to be 5. a few million tonnes this year. This means that there would be a typical monthly surplus associated with around 50, 500 tonnes.
“We are experiencing an oversupply (of chicken) domestically. Our surplus is quite a lot, ” Mr Nasrullah, the agriculture ministry’s director-general of livestock and animal health that goes by one title, told CNA.
According to the ministry, Philippines exported around five hundred tonnes of poultry last year mainly in order to its neighbouring nation, Timor Leste.
Singapore imported 214, 400 tonnes of chicken meat this past year, about a third were from Malaysia.
Malaysia has put in place an export prohibit of up to 3. 6 million chickens per month, following supply plus pricing issues locally, with some chicken traders selling whole hens above the price ceiling to cover their expenses.
Following the export ban, Singapore announced that it will source hens from other places, including Indonesia and Thailand.
There have been phone calls from Malaysia’s chicken breeders for Putrajaya to lift the particular ban, or danger losing out on the particular Singapore market.
