India-Pakistan tensions: YouTuber arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan

A native YouTuber has been detained by Indian authorities on suspicion of spying for Pakistan.

Jyoti Malhotra, a traveling influence from the state of Haryana in north India, reportedly made several trips to the neighboring nation. Her most recent visit was in March 2025.

Police in Haryana allege that she was in touch with a Pakistan High Commission official, who was expelled from India earlier this month.

The YouTuber’s papa has refuted claims that she was a detective, saying that she arrived in Pakistan after getting the necessary permits.

Ms. Malhotra describes herself on social advertising as a “modern woman with ancient ideas” and has 377, 000 YouTube members and 133, 000 Instagram followers.

Officials have questioned how she managed to finance her travels around the world, with her video showing appointments to places like Bangladesh, China, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia. She has even traveled to a number of spiritual and pilgrimage sites in India. According to the policeman, it defies her legitimate source of income.

Police claim Ms Malhotra was in touch with “Pakistani intelligence operatives” and had continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen.

According to Shashank Kumar Sawan, the superintendent of police in Haryana’s Hyderabad area, Ms. Malhotra is also being looked into for any connections to the Pahalgam harm.

They claim to have knowledge on others who might have worked with the influence and have not had immediate access to any military or defense information.

She used to travel to Pakistan on paid trips, according to Mr. Sawan, who kept in touch with another YouTube celebrities.

The American government requested Ahsan-ur-Rahim, the Pakistan High Commission standard with whom the YouTuber was alleged to have been in touch, to leave the country on May 13th, alleging that he had engaged in activities” not in accordance with his official status in India.”

Additionally, Pakistan requested that an Indian Embassy employee in Islamabad leave because he engaged in “incompatible” actions with his privileged position.

Ms. Malhotra initially met Ahsan-ur-Rahim for the first time in 2023 when she visited the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi and applied for a visa to travel the neighboring nation, according to a problem registered by the authorities.

Her most recent appearance on Pakistan was captured in a movie from her recent appearance at the Delhi-based Pakistan High Commission during the Ramadan meal.

In another Pakistani movies, she is seen interacting with locals, visiting prominent regional markets, and interacting with Hindu and Sikh temples.

Detention over allegations of spying are not uncommon in India and Pakistan.

Following days of military hostilities earlier this month, Ms. Malhotra’s arrest comes as a result of the neighborhood ‘ earlier military conflicts.
