Ilyas claimed to be a member of a little army group called the Majmuah musyat in Tartus.
” I was the assistant commander of the majmuah. It was a little party, consisting of eight people”, said Ilyas.  ,
After the government collapsed, Assad’s men were disarmed and required to report often. But, said Ilyas, there are some previous men who still fight here and there, especially in areas bordering Lebanon, including Tartus.

They are typically dispatched to smaller towns to search for the weapons and landmines that Assad’s army has also left behind.
” They are assigned to different things, some are crew leaders, mortar missiles, and guns”, said Ali, 45, who was also in Tartus to deliver food to the visitors.
” As far as I know, there are less than 100 Citizens in the city of Idlib where I live”, he said, adding that from it, they could be deployed to anywhere in the state.  ,
