A protester says he was not aiming to enter Manchester’s Chinese language consulate during a pro-democracy demonstration that saw violent scenes on Sunday.
Bob Chan told the news conference he was dragged onto the consulate environment and beaten simply by men, leaving him with injuries needing hospital treatment.
It comes each day after a British MEGAPIXEL accused one of China’s the majority of senior UK diplomats of being involved .
Amid the increasing row, China has claimed there were attempts at illegal entrance.
Speaking at an information conference organised simply by several British MPs, Mr Chan, the Hongkonger, said this individual was left physically and mentally hurt by Sunday’s incident.
He referred to being beaten by masked men away from consulate, some of who he said were trying to take down an exhibit of banners.
“I then found me personally being dragged in to the grounds of the consulate. I held on to the gates where I had been kicked and punched, I could not hold on for long, inch he said.
“I was eventually pulled onto the ground from the consulate. I felt punches and kicks from several men. Other protestors were trying to get me out of this situation, but to no avail.
“The attack just stopped when a man who turned out to be the uniformed officer in the Greater Manchester Law enforcement pulled me away from gates.
“Let me say this again so I was clear: I was pulled into the consulate I did so not attempt to enter the consulate. ”
Police in Stansted have said as much as 40 protesters collected outside the consulate – a smaller diplomatic workplace that is UK area but cannot be joined without consent.
At about 16: 00 BST, Greater Manchester Law enforcement said a group of guys “came out of the constructing and a man has been dragged into the consulate grounds and assaulted”.
“Due to our worries for the safety of the man, officers intervened and removed the particular victim from the consulate grounds, ” the statement said.
Mister Chan spoke of his shock in the incident and told of his concern for family members still in Hong Kong.
“I am shocked because I never believed something like this could take place in the UK. I still believe the UK is a place where totally free speech and protest are basic human rights.
“No amount of violence or even diplomatic pressure will change that. I am hurt physically and mentally, ” he or she said.
The demonstrators – many of who were from Hk – were protesting as the ruling Communist Party congress began in Beijing.
A spokesperson for the consulate said the protesters had “hung a good insulting portrait of the Chinese president at the main entrance”.
Beijing later claimed the consulate staff were subjected to harassment plus said there were tries to enter the consulate grounds.
China offers “made representations” to the UK government to increase protection for its diplomatic staff.
Meanwhile, the particular senior Conservative MEGAPIXEL Iain Duncan Smith criticised the UK government’s diplomatic response to the incident so far.
He told the news conference it had been “wholly insufficient… and I think I’m being slightly kind to them”.
Mr Duncan Smith described Foreign Office Minister Jesse Norman as having to be “dragged” towards the despatch box within Parliament to respond towards the situation.
He said a meeting between the UNITED KINGDOM and a Chinese recognized about Sunday’s incident resulted in “a gentle rap on the knuckles”.
Foreign Secretary Wayne Cleverly said earlier the incident had been “absolutely unacceptable, that this protests were relaxing and legal. These were on British ground and it is absolutely unacceptable for this kind of behaviour”.
