Heavy rain triggers flash flood warnings across Singapore; some flights at Changi Airport affected

Singapore: On Saturday ( May 5 ), a number of locations across Singapore have flash flood warnings as a result of heavy rain.

The intersection of Wan Lee Road and Enterprise Road in the west of Singapore and Jalan Pokok Serunai off Upper East Coast Road was issued by PUB, Singapore’s regional water bureau, mid-morning emails.

Prior to the start of the day, flash flood threat alerts were issued for locations like Craig Road, Upper Paya Lebar Road, Jalan Lokam, Jalan Seaview, and the Tanjong Katong South intersection.

At 06 :54 a.m., PUB issued the first flash flood warning.

The region was notified as a result of heavy rains.

The terrible weather has also caused some airlines to miss out on at Changi Airport.

A customer at Changi Airport claimed that Terminal 3 for his flight from Singapore to New York City had been changed before being delayed.

” This is due to severe weather, heavy rainfall and thunder warning issued. Due to safety concerns and the given lightning notice, we are unable to board the people. Now lightning notice matter until 12.10pm”, read an air-port announcement.

A see on the LIV Golf Championship’s site stated that playing days had been changed and that it would not begin until 12.45pm, which also affected the next round of the LIV Golf competition in Sentosa.

The game, featuring some of the world’s leading golf, including Major finalists Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, is scheduled to end on Sunday.

CNA has contacted Changi Airport and PUB for more information.
