Mr Lee described Singapore’s marriage with Indonesia, its biggest ally, as” a very important” one.
” I hope from Indonesia’s point of view, they find it a beneficial relationship to them too”.
He noted that during his administration, both nations have been able to “do a bunch up and keep the marriage in good shape.”
“( This means ) that we can have resolved problems, we’ve moved forward on cooperation, we have specific projects which are yielding results”, said the Prime Minister.
Where there have been concerns that needed to be resolved, we have been able to resolve them effectively and in a way that stabilizes the partnership as a whole and addresses the specific issues.
Good relations between Singapore and Indonesia “make a difference” for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN), as they enable the 10-member bloc to play its part as a hub for more regional cooperation and strengthen” ASEAN centrality.”
” I very much hope and I’m confident that this will continue with the next Singapore ( Prime Minister ) and the next Indonesian President”, he said.
