Government to contribute US$100,000 to Singapore Red Cross’ fundraising appeal for Nepal floods

SINGAPORE: The Singapore government did contribute&nbsp, US$ 100, 000 as grain money for&nbsp, the Singapore Red Cross ‘&nbsp, people fundraising efforts for Nepal, where the capital&nbsp, Kathmandu has been affected by severe storms.

The contribution will help with humanitarian relief efforts and the immediate needs of Nepal’s affected communities, according to a statement from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA ) on Thursday ( October 10 ).

After violent monsoon rains swelled streams and overrun entire communities in the capital, Nepal is reeling from its worst flood in decades, killing at least 236 people.

The tragedy that occurred on September 27th was the most recent devastating flood to hit the nation this year.

Every month, monsoon rains cause widespread death and destruction in South Asia in the form of floods and landslides.

According to authorities, their frequency and intensity have increased as a result of climate change.

This time, Nepal has experienced at least 300 fatal rain-related disasters.
