Gillman Barracks tenants hope art can be part of future development plans for area

Due to the area’s main location and the absence of new housing options, experts predicted that demand will likely be strong if the area is transformed into a residential neighborhood. &nbsp,

In a new classification scheme for Build-to-Order ( BTO ) projects, they added that any new public housing constructed at the Gillman Barracks site would likely fall under the Prime or Plus categories.

Protecting CULTURE, History

According to observers, the state has been working to protect the culture and heritage of various estates. &nbsp,

” On the one hand, we have a lot of future improvements. On the other hand, we want to preserve as many of these iconic structures as possible, according to Dr. Woo Jun Jie, top teacher at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. &nbsp,

” So the trade off, maybe, is that we may have to offer up some of these existing areas for new customers. In other situations, we may need to take some of our emerging needs and design a space so that we can keep the old buildings, even if that is n’t the most effective use of space.

According to Dr. Woo, there may at least been efforts to preserve the black and white colonial-era houses for Gillman Barracks. For example, these may be used as institutions or for group activities.
