At the party’s second rally for the General Election on Tuesday ( Apr 29 ), Red Dot United ( RDU) criticized Vivian Balakrishnan for “like” on a contentious Facebook post.
Previous Nominated MP Calvin Cheng made the suggestion that protesters opposed to Palestine should be sent to Gaza and prohibited from moving to Singapore.
” The publish didn’t really offend,” he said. It caused harm to an overall neighborhood. At the rally held at the School of Science and Technology, RDU Holland-Bukit Timah member Sharad Kumar said,” It hurt the very material that holds Singapore up.
The former MP and outlet secretary of the GRC, Dr. Balakrishnan, has stated that he does not “like” the position and does not agree with Mr. Cheng’s opinions. His hit minister recently informed CNA that Meta was looking into the situation.
However, Mr. Sharad, when you are the minister of the Singaporean authorities, your words, actions, silence, yet your Facebook likes are all important. Leadership is not just about creating institutions. It’s about establishing trust, and trust cannot thrive in ambiguity.
RDU Chairman David Foo also criticized Dr. Balakrishnan, calling him” the face of the establishment – refined, wealthy, and parachuted.”
” He again said, and I quote,” How much do you want?” Do you want to eat three meals per day in a cafe, food court, or stall center? According to Dr. Foo, referring to a 2007 trade in which then-MP Lily Neo expressed concerns that recipients of public support may not be able to afford meals due to poor financial support.
” Let us not forget that this is the same person who once called his political rivals ignorant and untrustworthy,” Dr. Foo said.
He claimed that Dr. Balakrishnan’s speech bestowed upon the ruling group’s vision of the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC:” A stronghold for the wealthy, a playground for the well-connected, a GRC where they assume they don’t have to consider very difficult because they believe the rest of us are asleep.”
In addition to Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, RDU is seeking candidates in Jurong East-Bukit Batok, Nee Quickly GRC, and Jurong Central SMC.  ,
