Authorities in the state of Uttar Pradesh, northeastern India, announced on Thursday that a gang turned politician had died of cardiac arrest.
Mukhtar Ansari, the 63- yr- older, five- day lawmaker from the condition, had been in jail in since 2005.
His home, who claims he was given a “poisonous material” in prison, contest the circumstances of his death.
As people poured out of Ansari’s home after hearing the news of his suicide, authorities increased security in the state.
Ansari, who ran his own group in the 1990s, had more than 60 criminal cases against him, 15 of which included death fees.
He entered elections and won his second state election in his hometown of Mau in 1996. He remained a member of the legislature until 2022.
He was found guilty in April 2023 of killing Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) lawmaker Krishnanand Rai and receiving a 10-year prison sentence.
He was given a life statement earlier this month for a 1990 alleged ruse of false hands.
Ansari was taken to the hospital on Thursday, according to prison authorities in Banda city, after he complained of diarrhea.
A group of nine doctors treated the individual right away, according to a physician bulletin from the Rani Durgavati Medical College. ” But, despite their best efforts, he died due to a heart imprisonment”.
Ansari’s nephew Afzal Ansari, an MP from the condition, alleged that he was poisoned.
According to Mr. Ansari,” Mukhtar said that he was given a poisonous element in food in jail.”
” This occurred a second time. Around 40 times before also he was given poison. And recently on 19 March and 22 March, he was again given this]poison ] due to which his condition deteriorated”.
Ansari had been hospitalised on Tuesday after a drop in the loo, according to prison officials.
He was originally treated in prison before being taken to the hospital for further treatment, according to a statement from them, and finally discharged after 14 days.
On Thursday, following the announcement of Ansari’s dying, Uttar Pradesh authorities issued law directions in the position and held symbol rallies in specific parts.
Umar Ansari, the son of Ansari, claimed that he had been informed of his father’s deteriorating wellness through media reports and that he had not received any information from the government prior to his death.
” Two days ago, I came to meet him, but I was not allowed]to ]”, he said.
Ansari’s write-up- death may be carried out on Friday.
