NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A man had not been seen since going fishing in a small boat on Wednesday morning was found dead in the sea on Thursday morning.

After failing to find him on Wednesday afternoon, rescuers resumed their search for Somchai Samad on Thursday morning. He was found dead, floating in the sea off Tha Sala district.

Somchai, 50, of Moo 6 village in tambon Tha Sala, went out to sea alone in a small boat on Wednesday morning, police said. He did not return home.

Searchers found his empty boat about 3 kilometres offshore from Sra Bua beach in Tha Sala district.  After 9 hours they called off the search, which resumed Thursday morning

Police said Somchai suffered from chronic illness.
