Thawee Kraikupt, a former cabinet minister and former politician, passed away at the age of 84 at Siriraj Hospital.

Pareena Kraikupt, the father of past Palang Pracharath Party MP Pareena Kraikupt, was taken to a Bangkok public hospital on April 10 after suffering head injury from a drop at his house in Ratchaburi state. He died the following morning from his wounds.

Paisal Puechmongkol, a former legislator, on Saturday expressed his condolences to the Kraikupt home after learning about the information from Ms Pareena.

According to her mother’s sickness and continued hospital care, Ms. Pareena confirmed that her father passed away on April 11.

Born on May 29, 1939, Thawee was elected a Ratchaburi MP seven days. In the Chuan Leekpai leadership, he served as the deputy minister of travel in 1981 and the Gen Prem Tinsulanonda government’s assistant minister of commerce in 1992.

He is survived by two children: Seehadet Kraikupt, president of Bang Tanod tambon management company and Ms Pareena, a previous four-time Ratchaburi MP.
